  • On the article POLL: Military Lifts Women in Combat Ban

On one hand, if a woman wants to join the military and passes the rigors of combat training she should be entitled to be in combat just as the guys are. The rules or standards should not be lowered to accommodate them however. On the other hand, I can see the problems that could arise in combat areas when a man may feel too protective over the woman and lose track of the mission at hand. We cannot have distractions that put everyone in danger.

    FYI. Another update.
We have a 3rd Marine home for Saturday's welcome home and flag exchanges in Northampton Township in the administration building, 55 Township Rd, Richboro, PA.
Marine Lance Corporal Michael Moscola of Holland is home from deployment and is currently in town. He returned home on 12/22/12 from a 9 month deployment in the Middle East/ Africa. Mike was originally scheduled to return in November but his deployment was extended due to the conflict in Gaza. He was on his way home and they returned his unit to the area. So to recap, there will now be 3 presentations starting at 3:00PM:
    1. Welcome Home and flag return for Marine Lance Corporal Daniel Croak along with his wife Leah and newborn son Danny, Jr, mom Kathy and dad George.
    2. Welcome Home and flag exchange for Marine Lance Corporal Michael Moscola along with his mom Carol and dad Bill.
    3. Flag placement for Marine Lance Corporal Jesus Marchese, currently deployed to Yemen. Flag will be placed by his brother Marine Private Hugo Marchese who is currently on leave from Parris Island bootcamp.
If you have any questions email or call me.

Ed, FYI, I watch most all the Board meetings and am not ignorant as to what is going on in the District. I respect your opinion and also understand why you feel that way. We can agree to disagree. The point is that the Directors have indicated that they wish Thomas to lead them in the upcoming year. I was a Northampton Supervisor for 24 years and Chairman many times. It wasn't an all powerful position, simply one of a leadership role to facilitate the meetings and set the agenda. Every Board member has an equal vote and voice during meetings and the setting of policies. If the leader does not do a good job, the others can always select a new leader at any time. Let's just agree to disgree and I respect your opinion as well as anyone else's.

People, please understand. The voters elect their School Board representative just as they elect their Township Supervisors. This applies, in a similar fashion to State and Congressional Representatives. These elected officials then choose who they want to lead them. It is not up to the public to vote for leadership positions. Any organization has its leadership selected by its members. Would you want your private or social groups leadership selected by non members. I think not and so should you. Sorry, but you need to reassess and get real. As far as Wendi Thomas is concerned, she is very knowledgeable and will make a good President,

Hundreds, if not thousands of people came out to get free flu shots at the Northampton Volunteer Fire Company station #83 at 283 Hatboro Rd, Churchville, PA on 9/29/12.
This is a video of the backup of traffic lines waiting to get free flu
shots at the Northampton Volunteer Fire Company station on Hatboro Rd. Long waits and lines throughout the 10:00am to 1:00pm event. Many took the opportunity to get their shots and many gave up because of the long wait. Hopefully, the County will run more of these programs and at more locations.
