ReplyErin and Lauren, thanks for giving me an opportunity to share a few beautiful shots with our readers here on our local Patch and for sharing your story. That's really one of the things a small town newspaper is all about; the stories in our community and yours was an honor to share. It is not every day I stumble across such a lovely scene at the park. You made my day, thanks.

Hi Lynda, it really was a great day for shooting photos out doors. Getting to stop by for a few moments and watching a pro working such a beautiful shoot really made my day at Tyler.

ReplyI really think these are a bad idea and should not be a substitute for live police. A live police officer should be the only one making the determination to write a ticket on a red light violation. One photo may not really account for the reason for a situation. There have been a number of studies that Sugesting these cameras actually increase accidents. Rear end collisions as people fearful of getting caught in a Red slam on the brakes on seeing the yellow rather than risk proceding would have been ok. Several studies have shown accident rates increased at these intersections.
If we have a problem with people running lights, pay an officer to be there rather than put up a cheap camera in hopes for the cash to just roll in.
I have no problem with spending the money to pay a police officer to heavily patrol problem areas. Cops not cameras.

ReplyWhile I personally have always worn a helmet, it just is a good idea. It should be personal choice. I'll bet people wearing helmets in cars would cut down on a few head injuries in car accidents also. But nobody is pushing for that.
