ReplyI'm not sure these are really working completely. The aerators near the playground just seem to push the algae shore-side into the fishing docks/shoreline that runs parallel Oaklawn ave. I'm also curious if these run on a schedule, are triggered by some kind of environmental factor, or if someone from public works/parks (which township?) just goes and turns them on whenever some criteria is met. They're not consistently on at the same time of day when I see them.

ReplyNor am I a Collingswood tax payer. Point being it seems awfully strange that they'd produce a 12 minute video clip on a highly controversial topic (I checked their YouTube channel, no other recent things of this length) without first having some reasons to do so.
They can't get their act together to put some PDF files up on the web of public meeting records (as uninteresting, and as unattended/unexciting as I know they are), but they took the time to make this

ReplyFunny how the Borough can find the time/resources to spend 12 minutes producing a propaganda piece to put on YouTube when their actions are opposed, yet they can't seem find the time to post any Commissioner's meeting minutes past September on their own website (http://www.collingswood.com/node/7944)

ReplyHi,
"Technology evangelist" here, who still buys PC games, music, and movies. You've got absolutely no basis here generalizing an entire population and trying to frame this as some "geeks vs artists" framework.
You also show absolutely no respect for Swartz in this article with this completely asinine statement:
"His suicide represents a tragic end to a life that could have been brilliant, but nonetheless symbolizes what can happen when piracy is taken too far"
He committed suicide because he took piracy TOO FAR? Are you really suggesting this? And COULD have been brilliant? Should we just ignore all his other contributions during his lifetime?
Your co-opting of his death to make your spurious points and condescending remarks sickens me. Apparently you also think we're all puppets who are just going along with Google and Wikipedia's interpretation of SOPA and haven't read the text of the bill. I have read it.
The objection to SOPA is that it calls for entire DNS trees/domains to be blocked based on receipt of an " alleged violation." Not an actual violation, but merely the receipt of a notice of a perceived violation.
It's preemptive censorship designed to take any content offline prior to said content actually being proven infringing in any court of law. In other words, it's the digital equivalent of a shoot first, ask questions later policy.

Collingswood has a parking map here: http://www.collingswood.com/getting-here , but it doesn't have the kiosks on it
With you on the hours though. I love Collingswood and know lots of folks there (including Reed) but I would find myself so often trying to go to a store and finding it closed that I kind of just gave up trying to shop downtown.

I'm honestly not sure what kind of priorities Camden County Parks has with Newton Lake, but they seem to be .... skewed. There's another aerator as of this weekend, and it's still a mess and not fixing the problem. More good money thrown after a bad idea.
Somehow cash was found to put up Cherry Hill Mall advertisements on lamp posts last year (yes, it was partially funded by the mall, but parks still paid for some), yet
* The fishing docks are mangled rebar and deteriorating concrete
* The fence at the playground is still not replaced/fixed.
* Thanks to the "beautification" efforts of removing large swaths of trees/plants and shoreside growth, the shoreline is eroding faster than I've ever seen and taking the paved paths with it (and no, the Hurricane is not solely responsible for this)
On the plus side, there are steps being installed in the wooded section at the end of E Greenwood Ave going down to the path , but I'm not sure if that's a county initiative or township/nature center.
