Almost all Council Rock School District schools were open today. Did your children go?
Despite some road closures, many residents still without electricity and the school phone lines being down, Council Rock School District announced that all schools but Goodnoe Elementary would open on Friday. In the comments of the article detailing the announcement and on Northampton Patch's facebook page, many people expressed that Friday was too soon to send students and teachers back to school. The Council Rock School Board will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Despite the fact that school is closed today, the Council Rock School Board will meet tonight for its regular meeting. The meeting will be held at the Chancellor Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. Click here to view the agenda. Schools have been closed since Monday because Hurricane Sandy wiped out power at many schools throughout the district. As of 12:45 p.m. Thursday, a decision regarding school on Friday has not been made.

Schools are closed again Thursday due to power outages and road closures from Hurricane Sandy.
Council Rock schools will remain closed Thursday due to significant power outages and road closures throughout the district, a message from the superintendent said. As of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, eight schools in the district are without power and "Council Rock’s Network Operation Center in Newtown remains without power and this has affected email, web, and phone service to and from schools," the message from Superintendent Mark Klein said. "We will assess Council Rock schools through the day on Thursday in preparation for a decision on school for Friday," Klein said.
