Northampton Township Police Chief M. Barry Pilla, Jr. will step down as of July 1 according to a written statement he issued Monday. Pilla said Lieutenant Mike Clark, as second in command, will assume command of the Police Department on June 30. A 46-year-old Ivyland man was later located at his residence, where he admitted being at fault in the crash, police said.
An Ivyland man who got into an accident Tuesday was driving under the influence and left the scene before officers arrived, Northampton Township Police said. According to police, officers received a report at about 5:30 p.m. of a two-car accident on 2nd Street Pike at Newtown Richboro Road. When they got there, only one of the drivers was there. The other had left after providing their information, police said. The driver who remained said he was stopped in a line of traffic going north on 2nd Street Pike when a large truck came from behind and got in the left turning lane. A 13-year-old girl said she was walking on Buck Road Monday when a white man said 'pretty girl come here,' according to Northampton Township police.
A man in a black SUV attempted to lure a teenage girl Monday on Buck Road, Northampton Township Police said. A 13-year-old girl said she was walking north on Buck Road about to turn onto Woodlake Drive just before 4 p.m. when a "heavyset" white male honked the horn of the black Cadillac SUV or crossover vehicle he was driving, police said. The man waived his hand and said, “Pretty girl come here,” according to information from police. When the victim said no, the man said, in a louder tone, "I said come here." Police said the girl then ran to a friend’s home. She last saw the vehicle going north on Buck Road, according to police. The following activity has been reported by Northampton Township Police Department: A contractor at the Poet's Walk construction site on Thursday reported that sometime between 4:30 p.m. on April 24 and 7:30 a.m. on April 25 someone stole two power saws and a table saw stand from one of the homes under construction. No value was given for the items. A Cottonwood Drive resident reported that sometime between 8 p.m. on April 24 and noon on April 25, someone vandalized his car by carved images onto the paint. Northampton police collected 762 pounds of unwanted pills Saturday. A total of 6,710 pounds of unwanted medications were collected across Bucks County.
More than 762 pounds of unwanted medications were collected Saturday by Northampton Township police during a Drug Take Back event at Richboro Shop N Bag. The event, sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration, was held nationwide. In Bucks County, a total of 6,710 pounds were collected at multiple drop off sites. That's more than was collected last year. Northampton Police Chief Barry Pilla said Saturday's successful event was "another outstanding job keeping unneeded drugs out of our environment and the hands of those who should not have or need them." Several local police departments will be collecting unwanted medicines on Saturday as part of the DEA's Drug Take Back Day.
Several local police departments are participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration's upcoming Drug Take Back Day this Saturday. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents can drop off unwanted prescription medications for safe disposal at various locations. Participating departments include: "The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications," the DEA website states. A man with a history of violent encounters allegedly shot and killed his ex-wife and wounded her teenage daughter in Feasterville and less than an hour later died in Northampton after a gunfire exchange with police, officials said. Police say Kenneth Philipp, of Richboro, shot his ex-wife in a parking lot off Bustleton Pike and fled through Northampton. Action News, reported the shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. as the woman and her daughter were picking up a dress from a nearby store. Philipp was then stopped by police at Buck and East Holland roads, where he engaged in gunfire with officers, according to published reports. Any time I've ever had dealings with his officers they always are professional.
