Yard Waste Collection Begins This Week

Unlimited yard waste will be collected and taken to a composting facility the day after trash collection starting this week.

Yard waste collection for Northampton Township residents starts this week. Through Dec. 15, unlimited yard waste will be collected for composting the day after trash is picked up. Residents should use biodegradable, 30-gallon paper bags or trash containers that do not weigh more than 50 pounds when full, according to information from Northampton Township. Yard waste in plastic bag will not be collected. Tree branches and shrubbery must be no more than 36 inches long and less than three inches in diameter. Braches must be bundled and tied, taped or put in biodegradable bags. Branches or shrubbery cannot extend over the top of the can or bag, according to the township.

Yard Waste Collection Delayed

Because of the weather and the volume of yard waste, the township's collection has been delayed a few days.

Due to the recent extreme weather conditions and the large volume of yard waste, its collection has been delayed, the township said. "The collection of yard waste has been delayed one to two days," an announcement on the township's website said. "JP Mascaro has added additional trucks and their employees are working 12 hour shifts to try to collect all of the yard waste." Yard waste collection will continue into Saturday.
