'Act of Kindness' Contest Kicks off in Memory of Sandy Hook Victim
To enter, children should write or draw their story of their own act of kindness. Anyone under the age of 18 can participate.
“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” That sentiment, a quote by Frederick Douglass, is the motivation behind an Act of Kindness Contest for Kids that has kicked off in memory of Charlotte Bacon, a victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Newtown, Conn. resident Jodie Adolfson contacted Newtown, Pa. Patch this week to encourage Bucks County residents to participate in the contest. Adolfson reached out on behalf of Aaron and Christi Carlson, Newtown, Conn. residents who are running the contest with the Bacon family. “The contest is simple – all children write, draw or tell their story in any way about their own act of kindness,” Adolfson explained.
