RECALL: Portable Generators Sold Exclusively at Home Depot
Powermate Portable Generators are being recalled due to a fire hazard.
Powermate is recalling approximately 7,700 of its Sx 5500 portable generators for a fire hazard. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall, the fuel filter on this generator allows gasoline to leak, posing a fire hazard. There have been 51 reports of fuel filter leakage. No fires or injuries have been reported to date. The portable generators were sold exclusively at Home Depot in the northeast, mid-west, and southeast between February 2012 and August 2012. Consumers should stop using these generators and contact Pramac America to receive a free repay kit including a replacement filter, hose, and hose clamps for the fuel line.
