Last Chance: Register for BucksFit 5K

You have a little more than a week to sign up with a discount.

Lace up your sneaks because racing season is upon us. The annual BucksFit 5K will be held on April 29 at the Municipal Park again this year. The last day to get discounted registration fees is April 13. Register online. The race will start at 8:30 a.m. and loop through the park, taking the green route to the black route, out past the maintenance shed, along Hatboro Road and back through the parking area and ending just beyond the amphitheater.  Grades K-6 can sign up for $10 and adults 13 and older can sign up for $18. Because the parks and recreation department has partnered with Pennsylvania's Healthy Kids program, elementary age students signing up can indicate which school they're running for. Parks and Rec Offers Fall Theater Classes

The department has new workshops for child dance and theater fanatics.

The Northampton Township Parks and Recreation Department has tons of fall activities, including several new workshops that are art-focused for those creative kids. Acting Naturally is meant specifically to teach the technique of acting, with a focus on the method of developing a character for stage or screen. Actors are taught through improvisation, scene study and monologues, the skills needed to become and sustain a believable character. Workshops provide a unique opportunity for the actor to explore and learn in a friendly, encouraging and non-competitive atmosphere. Local Kids Showcase Their Talents

The community's kids showcased their talent Thursday night at Northampton's Got Talent.

Northampton's Parks and Recreation Department hosted a talent show for children between 8 and 17 on Thursday, July 21, at Maureen M. Welch Elementary. The show was part of the 2011 Summer Concert Series.

Upcoming Parks and Recreation Events

Here are some of the Parks and Recreation Department programs and events on the calendar for spring that are worth looking into.

March 3: Snuggle Up to Books is at the library at 6:30 p.m. and the theme is "Blowin' in the Wind." There will be crafts, snack, stories and lots of playtime for your younger ones.  March 8: Patagonia Bar and Grill will host Mardi Gras, Manicures and Mocktails with two seatings at 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. This event is a great opportunity to go out with your girlfriends and enjoy a three-course meal, pampering and great company. You will also receive a free future dinner at Patagonia. Come celebrate in style! March 30: Take a trip to NYC with Parks and Rec. Roundtrip scheduled tickets are only $38 and are also available for May 21. This is a great way to see the city and get there for cheap. April 16: The Easter bunny will be in town! Breakfast …
