This was the third year that the Northampton Senior Center participated in the National Walk@Lunch Day.
Approximately 50 seniors from the Northampton Senior Center participated in the National Walk@Lunch Day this week. This was the third year that the Northampton Senior Center held their walk. It was led by Sheila Jobs and Kathy Gurevitch of the Senior Center administration and Northampton Supervisors Kimberly Rose and Eileen Silver. Participants did a two-mile walk on Township Road. Assisting in the event were people from Independence Blue Cross and several students from the Drexel University nursing program. This year's walk was dedicated to the memory of former Northampton Supervisor and Senior Center member James E. Kinney, who passed away on April 19. Northampton Senior Center members will use the yarn to make afghans that will be given to deploying military at Fort Dix/Maguire Air Force Base.
Churchville Elementary School sixth graders are helping the Northampton Senior Center’s effort to keep our troops warm. Earlier this month, the sixth graders held a Valentine’s Day Dance; each student who attended donated yarn for the senior center’s Afghans for Soldiers Project. The project, which began in 2011, is an effort to make blankets for deploying troops. A team of seniors led by Anna Kinson will use the yarn to make afghans that will be given to deploying military at Fort Dix/Maguire Air Force Base. Nicole Christmann and her sixth-grade daughter, Ashley, delivered the yarn this week to the senior center. The amount collected will make about 50 afghan blankets, according to volunteers. The Council Rock Senior Center bocce team beat the Northampton Township Supervisors team for the third time in a row.

The 2012 Northampton Days Festival kicked off at 9:30 a.m. with the annual bocce challenge, which took place between the Council Rock Senior Center bocce team and the Northampton Township Supervisors team. The two-time defending champs the Seniors once again defeated the Supervisors in a best of three match. The Seniors took the first two matches 11-4 in game one and 11-9 in game two to win this year's challenge.
