Police Respond to 3 Residential Burglaries and More

Three reports of residential burglaries, an attempted residential burglary, criminal mischief and more were listed in a recent police blotter.

In addition to a possible DUI charge for a man falling asleep behind the wheel of his running vehicle, the Northampton Township Police Department also released reports of residential burglary, theft, criminal mischief and more in a recent blotter.  Burglary – Residential - Forced Unit block of Meer Drive A resident of the unit block of Meer Drive reported a burglary from the house. The owner was out between 10:30 a.m. and 12:49 p.m. and returned to find that someone had forced entry to the house. A yet-to-be-determined amount of jewelry was found stolen on Friday, Nov. 16. Man Found Asleep Behind the Wheel; DUI Charges Pending

A driver asleep in his running vehicle may be charged with a DUI after results from lab reports are received, according to a recent police blotter.

A Holland man who was asleep in his running vehicle may be charged with a DUI after results from lab reports are received, Northampton Township Police said. Just after 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18 an officer on patrol discovered an occupied vehicle running with its operator asleep behind the wheel in the 100 block of Mulberry Drive by South Timber Road, according to a recent police blotter. The officer woke the driver, who was a 52-year-old man from Holland, reports said. Observations of the driver led an officer to ask him to perform a series of field dexterity tests. He was unable to successfully complete the tests. The man was then taken into custody on suspicion of having been operating his vehicle while under the influence. He was taken …

Widow Thanks NTPD with Plaque

Marta Gross, whose husband passed away in February 2012, presented the NTPD with a plaque thanking them for their help honoring his memory.

A Penndel resident presented the Chief of Police with a plaque to thank the Northampton Township Police Department for their help honoring the memory of her late husband. Marta Gross of Penndel presented Chief Barry Pilla with an inscribed crystal plaque at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 14. She wanted to thank the police department for their help honoring her husband, Clement Gross, who passed away on Feb. 13, 2012. Clement Gross served in Vietnam with the 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, and his wife explained that after years of living with diabetes, post traumatic stress disorder, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cancer and many other illnesses, he made it clear that he wanted a military funeral. NTPD Names 2012 Police Officer of the Year

Officer Sean McLaughlin was named Police Officer of the Year by the Northampton Township Police Department.

The Northampton Township Police Department has named Officer Sean McLaughlin as the 2012 Police Officer of the Year. "Although a young and relatively new member to our Department, Sean has certainly demonstrated his dedication to our community by his hard work and law enforcement professionalism," Chief Barry Pilla said in a statement. McLaughlin will be honored at the December Board of Supervisors meeting, where he will be presented with a plaque from Chief Pilla and Chairman Frank Rothermel. McLaughlin's name will then be inscribed on the Police Officer of the Year Board at the Police Administration Building. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Stolen Car, iPhone, Statues Among Police Reports

According to a recent police blotter, a vehicle, an iPhone and lawn statues were stolen in Northampton Township.

In addition to reporting to three DUI incidents between Oct. 12 - 14, Northampton Township Police also responded to several reports of theft and burglary, according to a recent blotter. Burglary – Residential – No Force with Vehicle Theft 1500 block of Chinquapin Road On Friday, Oct. 12, a resident of the 1500 block of Chinquapin Road reported that sometime between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., someone entered her unlocked home, took a set of keys to one of her vehicles and then took the vehicle, which was a 1998 burgundy, Ford Windstar. No value was given for the minivan. Police Report Three DUIs Over Weekend

Northampton Township Police reported to three incidents over the weekend that could result in DUI charges.

Northampton Township Police reported to three incidents, one on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, that could result in DUI charges, according to a recent police blotter released on Monday, Oct. 15. On Friday, Oct. 12, an officer stopped a vehicle for erratic driving on 2nd Street Pike by New Road around 4:45 p.m., reports said. The operator, a 26-year-old male from Jamison, was found to be driving while his operating privileges were suspended. The officers observations of the driver and his inability to successfully complete a series of field dexterity tests led to his being taken into custody on suspicion of having been driving while under the influence. A recent police blotter from Northampton Township Police included reports of burglary, theft, criminal mischief, underage drinking and more.   Burglary – Residential – No Force 100 block of Knox Court On Monday, Oct. 1, a woman on the 100 block of Knox Court reported that sometime between 3:40 and 4:30 p.m. hours an unknown actor entered her home via an unsecured door, while she was out of the home. The home, which is owned by the woman’s son, was found to have had various rooms ransacked. It was not known at the time of the report if anything was taken. Inflatable Rhino Stolen from Churchville Store

Police are on the hunt for a suspect who allegedly stole a 20-foot inflatable rhino from Tom Adams Windows and Carpets in Churchville.

Police are on the hunt for a suspect that allegedly stole an inflatable rhino from the lawn in front of Tom Adams Windows and Carpets on 2nd Street Pike. "It's a 20 to 25-foot inflatable rhino that we use to promote a carpet," Sales Manager Robert Barufkin said. The promotion shows that if the carpet can handle the wild life of a wild animal, it can handle any family, Barufkin said. The business owner of the Churchville store reported the lawn ornament stolen from the front of the store between 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10 and 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning, the Northampton Township Police report said. Police Respond to 2 DUI-Related Accidents Over Weekend

Northampton Township Police responded to two separate DUI-related car crashes on Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 7.

Police responded to two DUI-related car crashes over the weekend, according to a police blotter released on Monday, Oct. 8. Officers received a report that a vehicle had crashed into a utility pole in the 300 block of Middle Holland Road at shortly after midnight on Saturday, Oct. 6. On arrival the vehicle operator, a 21-year-old male from Holland, reported being injured, according to police reports. A witness reported that the man's vehicle "simply drove off the road and struck the pole," police said. When the ambulance arrived on the scene, the man refused to go to the hospital.  He was then asked to submit to a series of field dexterity tests, but was unable to even start them. Woman Reportedly Assaults 19-Year-Old Woman

A 43-year-old woman was charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after assaulting a 19-year-old woman, police say.

Northampton Township Police charged a 43-year-old woman with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after she assaulted a 19-year-old woman, according to police reports. Police responded to a reported assault at a home on the 500 block of New Road in Holland on Saturday, Oct. 6. Upon arrival, police found that Lien Nguyen, 43 of Churchville had assaulted the 19-year-old daughter of the property owner. Nguyen was taken into custody and transported to Northampton Township Police Department headquarters for processing, police said. She was then charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. She was arraigned and released on her own recognizance in lieu of $5,000 bail.
