Philadelphia Eagles Score in NFL Draft

The Philadelphia Eagles made some big picks in the recent NFL Draft and pulled out a few surprises.

There's a lot to get excited about if you're a Philadelphia Eagles fans these days. For numerous years, the fan base has shaken its head after hearing the news about who the Philadelphia Eagles took in the NFL Draft. Does anyone remember Mike Mamula? How about Freddie Mitchell? At least he had great hands—well, Mitchell said he did. So when the Birds were gearing up for the recent NFL Draft, many fans were cringing over who their selections would be. We had visions of Andy Reid dancing in our heads. And even though owner Jeff Lurie absolved general manager Howie Roseman from blame for past drafts, we weren't really buying it. And then the Birds began selecting... Now offensive linemen aren't the sexy picks we all love, but they usually …

NY Giants Select South Graduate in NFL Draft

The New York Giants selected Justin Pugh as the 19th pick of the NFL Draft Thursday.

Justin Pugh, a lineman from Syracuse, has been drafted by the New York Giants. Pugh, a Council Rock South graduate, was the 19th pick in the NFL draft. "He’s a terrific football player — big, smart, high test scores and a team captain,” General Manager Jerry Reese said of Pugh, quoted in a New York Times article. “He’s our type of guy — clean. No warts, no off-field issues and a good athlete. He’s a solid football player, and I think you win with solid football players.” Pugh is a 6-foot-6-inch offensive tackle from Northampton Township. He decided to forgo his final season at Syracuse and enter the NFL draft, the Syracuse Post Standard reported earlier this year.  Pugh posted his decision to enter the draft on Twitter in January. In a Jan…

Draft Pick Huge Deal for Philadelphia Eagles

New Coach Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles have the No. 4 pick in the NFL Draft next week.

"And with the second pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Quarterback Donovan McNabb from Syracuse..." Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo. That's the sound that drowned out that selection when Coach Andy Reid made a major decision with a major draft pick, thus shaping his tenure and the team's future for the next decade. And that pick didn't turn out so bad: McNabb is easily one of the greatest quarterbacks in franchise history, having taken the Eagles to the Super Bowl and five NFC Championship Games. So can Geno Smith be McNabb all over again? After an awful season, the Philadelphia Eagles hold the fourth pick in the NFL Draft, which begins Thursday. You hear a lot of names being tossed around. It's not really a strong draft …

They have to go OLINE. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady can be your QB's and they wouldn't survive behind that Oline.... I'm not a Vick fan, at all, but that Oline play was pretty brutal last year. we can't keep troting King Dunlap out there.   more ›

Philadelphia Eagles Start to Shed Players

With new Coach Chip Kelly, expect the roster of the Philadelphia Eagles to be overhauled.

The casualties continue to mount. Once the Philadelphia Eagles fired Andy Reid, you knew that any new coach coming on board would want to shake up the roster. Now that Chip Kelly is here, General Manager Howie Roseman is starting to make some roster cuts. That's expected from any team once a season concludes and a Super Bowl ends. This time of the year is the business side of football when front offices review contracts and try to cut corners to help with some manueverability with the salary cap. The Eagles are no different. The first move the team made was restructing the contract of Quarterback Michael Vick, ensuring that he wouldn't be paid $15 million next year. Then, with a healthy return of tackle Jason Peters expected, the team made…
