The New York Giants selected Justin Pugh as the 19th pick of the NFL Draft Thursday.
Justin Pugh, a lineman from Syracuse, has been drafted by the New York Giants. Pugh, a Council Rock South graduate, was the 19th pick in the NFL draft. "He’s a terrific football player — big, smart, high test scores and a team captain,” General Manager Jerry Reese said of Pugh, quoted in a New York Times article. “He’s our type of guy — clean. No warts, no off-field issues and a good athlete. He’s a solid football player, and I think you win with solid football players.” Pugh is a 6-foot-6-inch offensive tackle from Northampton Township. Justin Pugh, who plays offense for Syracuse football, is headed to the NFL Draft in April. Pugh, a Council Rock South graduate, will forgo his final season at Syracuse and enter the NFL draft, the Syracuse Post Standard reported. Pugh is a six-foot, six-inch offensive tackle from Holland. Pugh posted his decision to enter the draft on Twitter earlier this month. In a Jan. 3 tweet, Pugh wrote: "I have decided to forgo my last year of football at Syracuse University & pursue my dream of playing in the NFL.Thanks for all the support!" According to reports, Pugh finished his coursework and has earned his degree.
