The average price of self-serve regular gas in Bucks and Montgomery Counties dropped nearly 20 cents since last month, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. Drivers are feeling relief at the pump across the country as gas prices continue to fall approaching the busy year-end holiday travel season. Prices are down 6.4 cents since last week and 15.1 cents higher than last year. Prices have been driven lower by a number of factors, including the switch to winter-blend fuel—which is less expensive to produce—increased gasoline inventories, cheaper crude oil prices, lower demand and economic concerns. Gas prices dropped about 1.5 cents in Pennsylvania and 1.1 cents in Bucks and Montgomery Counties from a week ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.685, down 22.4 cents from a month ago and 21.7 cents higher than a year ago. After Hurricane Sandy, there continues to be a distribution problem and not a systemic issue with gasoline supplies in New York and New Jersey. There is plenty of gasoline ready to make its way to stations, but it has to get there first. Once this distribution gets fully back online, AAA expects pump prices in affected areas to follow the rest of the country lower. AAA predicts that the national average price will be $3.25 to $3.40 by Thanksgiving and $3.10 to $3.30 …

In the Bucks and Montgomery area, the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline is $3.701 per gallon, which is 7.6 cents higher than a week ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. In the last week of July, prices dropped about 1 cent per gallon, but the report indicates that prices for crude oil moved above $90 a barrel after a positive U.S. jobs report on Friday. More employment, means more fuel is in demand and that pushes prices higher. The local pump prices are 26.4 cents higher than a month ago but 6.9 cents lower than a year ago. Locally, the best price for regular is $3.58 at the Prophete Brothers Liberty gas station at 4421 Brownsville Rd. in Feasterville Trevose, followed by $3.60 at the Southampton Hess at 724 …
