On Sept. 30, police reported to two DUI-related incidents.
Police responded to two DUI-related incidents on Sunday, Sept. 30, according to a recent blotter. One incident was a car crash and the other was a disabled vehicle blocking traffic. While on patrol at 3:30 p.m., an officer came upon a two-vehicle traffic crash on 2nd Street Pike at Almshouse Road in Richboro. Investigation found that both vehicles had been traveling north on 2nd Street Pike. One of the cars came to a stop in the left turn lane in order to turn onto Almshouse Road, and was waiting for a green traffic light, the report said. The second car, which was traveling in the straight lane, struck the rear passenger side of the stopped vehicle. According to a recent police blotter, a man was taken to the hospital on suspicion of a DUI and refused to consent to a blood test.
A Holland man may lose his driver's license after refusing to consent to a blood test, according to a recent blotter from Northampton Township Police. While on patrol, a police officer observed a vehicle traveling north on West Village Road well in excess of the posted 25 mph speed limit, on Thursday, Sept. 20. The officer pulled the driver over at West Village Road and Blaker's Way. The officer's observations of the 45-year-old man from Holland, along with his inability to successfully complete a series of field dexterity tests, led to his being taken into custody on suspicion on having been driving while under the influence. DUI charges are pending for a man who police initially pulled over for running a red light, according to a recent police blotter from the Northampton Township Police Department. On Sunday, Sept. 16 around 12:28 a.m., a police officer saw a vehicle "run a steady red traffic signal" at West Village Road while driving northbound on Buck Road, according to police reports. The vehicle was stopped at Heather Valley Road and West Village Road. The driver of the vehicle was a 21-year-old man from Holland, reports said. Police pulled over a vehicle for speeding, to find that the driver had a fake ID and was possibly under the influence.
Northampton Township Police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Saturday, Sept. 8, and found that the driver had a fake ID and was possibly under the influence, according to a recent police blotter. Police stopped a speeding vehicle around 1:30 a.m. on Twining Ford Road by Drexel Drive. While obtaining the driver's license and registration, the officer noticed two other state operator licenses in her possession, one of which was found to be fraudulent. The officers' observations of the driver—Yana Tsirkel, 20, of Levittown—sparked them to conduct field dexterity tests. Northampton Township Police reported to a two car accident at the intersection of Buck Road and West Village Road on Sunday, Sept. 2 that may have been caused by a drunk driver, according to police reports. Police arrived at the scene of the two-vehicle traffic crash at 7:40 p.m. On arrival they found that a vehicle that had been traveling north on Buck Road entered into the left turn lane and stopped at a traffic light to turn onto West Village Road. A southbound vehicle ran the red light, crossed into the left turn lane and struck the stopped vehicle, police reports said. Police reported to a motorcycle accident on Railroad Drive by Richard Road.
A motorcycle accident that occurred on Railroad Drive by Richard Road landed two people in the hospital on Monday, July, according to police. Around 11:30 p.m. Northampton Township police officers investigated a motorcycle accident where the driver of the bike, William Fletcher, 35 of Langhorne, failed to negotiate a curve in the road while traveling northbound on Railroad Drive near Richard Road. The bike struck a curb, which ejected both Fletcher and a 21-year-old female passenger off of the motorcycle, according to police reports. The Northampton Township Police Department is participating in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" program.
The Northampton Township Police Department is asking motorists not to drive impaired by enforcing the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" program, according to the police chief. Chief Barry Pilla said that the police department is joining The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's "Drive Sober" program in an effort to try and further prevent impaired and drunk driving. Nationally, nearly 11,000 people die on the road due to drunk driving, according to the administration. "Our ultimate goal is to save lives and prevent having to knock on someone's door to give them horrible news that a loved one has been seriously injured or taken far too early in life," Pilla said. Police responded to two DUI-related crashes, which were detailed in a recent police blotter.
Two DUI-related crashes—one on East Holland Road by Amsterdam Drive and the other near Churchville Inn—were reported by Northampton Township Police in recent blotters. Around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, an officer responded to a report of a struck pedestrian on East Holland Road by Amsterdam Drive. On arrival, a 17-year-old pedestrian who said he was not injured told police that while walking on East Holland Road at the curve, he saw a vehicle approaching. Both times the 18-year-old was caught by Hatboro police.
A Churchville man is behind bars after allegedly drinking and driving on two separate occasions this month in Hatboro. Brian M. Wladyka, 18, of Churchville, was arrested on May 24 at 6:11 p.m. after officers investigated reports of a possible intoxicated driver on Horsham Road. A patrol officer located and stopped the vehicle on North York Road and found it was the same vehicle and operator from an alleged DUI hit and run in Hatboro earlier this month. Wladyka had also been arrested by Hatboro Police on May 5 shortly after 4 a.m. after he allegedly hit a parked vehicle in the 200 block of Bon Air Avenue and attempted to flee the scene.
