Best Cupcake in Northampton

Vote for your favorite by Friday morning.

Cupcakes seem to be the trend, as specialty shops have been popping up all over the place and reality TV has caught on as well. When you're craving the tiny treat, where do you go in Northampton? Do you prefer What's for Dessert?, Desserts by Design or Confection Perfection?  There are plenty of other options as well, so feel free to indicate your preference in the comments. Vote for your favorite before Friday at 9 a.m. If there's a tie, the location with the most positive comments win. Also, if we missed your favorite spot, let us know in the comment section below and we'll add it in. In the event of a tie on our survey, we will break the tie by counting the positive comments written below about the tied businesses, so please let us know…

Girl Scouts Compete in Cupcake Wars

Five local Girl Scout troops participated in a cupcake competition at Holland Middle School.

Fourth and fifth grade Girl Scouts joined eighth and ninth grade Scouts in a friendly cupcake competition on Friday night. Five different groups of Scouts baked, iced, and decorated cupcakes. Each group then entered their best three cupcakes for judging. The evening was a bridging event, organizer Susan Murray explained, "where the Scouts get ready to go from one age group to the next." Murray also said, "They could just sit around and talk, but we're doing it the fun way." Celebrity Judges included Wendi Thomas of Council Rock School Board, Jenna Ekdahl of Northampton Patch, and Council Rock School District Superintendent, Mark J. Klein.
