Mar. 7: New Volleyball League for Beginners

Here's your "five" for Wednesday.

Cub Scouts Pack 5 is looking for new members. If you're interested, contact Clubmaster Scott McKenney at skmckenney@verizon.net or committee chair Lee Mueller at Leefmueller@verizon.net. The weather is heating up! There's a high of 61 today, according to the National Weather Service. There's a new volleyball league for beginniners and intermediate players. The first part of class includes instruction and the second will help you develop skills during game play. Register online at www.northamptonrec.com. This Saturday the library will be hosting a Civil War program featuring a Yankee soldier reenactor. Memorial Day in Northampton

Here's what the township is doing to celebrate the holiday.

In addition to the many activities celebrating Memorial Day around the county and other local areas, Northampton Township will have its own ceremonies to honor local and national veterans. The Marine Corps League Patriot Detachment will host a flag raising ceremony at 8 a.m. In front of the Administration Building, there are seven flag poles which raise an American flag and a flag for each branch of the military. Veterans of each will hoist their branch's flag in this 15-minute exercise. At 9 a.m., Master of Ceremonies Tom Yaegel will run a 45-minute program at the Robert H. Dembowski Veterans Memorial Park, located at the corner of 2nd Street Pike and Almshouse Road.  The program will include the National Anthem, sung by Council Rock …
