Musical 'Flash Mob' Surprises Council Rock Teachers

Students from throughout the district from elementary to high school were selected to participate in a surprise musical performance last week at Council Rock High School South.

Council Rock students surprised their teachers Friday, when they did a musical “flash mob” performance of Ode to Joy at district staff meeting. Students from throughout the district from elementary to high school were selected to participate in the surprise musical performance. A parent of one of the students who shared the video with Patch said they had just one group rehearsal prior to the performance. The performance took place at Council Rock High School South during a staff meeting on a teacher in-service day. The teachers were expecting just a cellist, the parent tells Patch. What began with a single cellist expanded to dozens of students playing an array of instruments and singing. The musical flash mob begins about 3 minutes into …

Football Game Postponed Due to Skin-Infection Outbreak

The CR South game, which was scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m., will be played at Monday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.

Tonight's Council Rock High School South football game against Pennsbury has been postponed until Monday due to a skin infection outbreak, according to the team's website and a letter from the principal. Principal Albert R. Funk said in a statement that two student football players had confirmed cases of skin infections Thursday afternoon. "Both of those players had been excluded from participation with the team during the week until tests were conclusive," Funk said. After the athletic trainer and wrestling coaches examined all of the JV and varsity players, 20 of the more than 70 players had skin abrasions. The abrasions could be innocuous, but were deemed suspicious enough to warrant further evaluation, the principal said. During the …

South Preps for Another League Title Run

The South football team is ready for the fall season.

Council Rock South’s 2010 football season was, in a word, historic. The question now, though, is what the Golden Hawks can do for an encore. They will have to replace some important pieces, for sure, but there is no reason at least the same amount of success of last year’s 11-2 campaign can’t be achieved. “We look good,” said P.J. Gallo, the Hawks' tight end/defensive end. “We’re coming out of here better and better each week.” Now after nearly two full weeks of practice and a scrimmage under their belts, the Hawks are putting the pieces together for the season opener against pass-oriented Central Bucks South Sept. 2. They have already scrimmaged Spring Ford and Malvern Prep. CB South is up next. One key for South prior to that is the …
