Struggling Thorpe Farm to Host Earth Day Celebration

This weekend's event is being organized by Citizens Saving The Thorpe First Nation Farm, which was formed to help the Upper Makefield farm stay afloat after a series of misfortunes.

Thorpe First Nation Farm is hosting a two-day Earth Day celebration that will feature a variety of events Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. The Churchville Nature Center’s Lenape Village Guides will be there.  Organizers hope the event will be a celebration of agriculture and nature at a farm that is facing foreclosure due to a series of recent misfortunes. The event is being organized by Citizens Saving The Thorpe First Nation Farm, which was formed in February to help the farm stay afloat after a barn fire and roof damage threatened its survival. Churchville Nature Center Sponsors Litter Cleanup

The April 20 event is part of the 'Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania' effort that runs through May 21.

The Churchville Nature Center is sponsoring a litter cleanup event on April 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is part of the “Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania” effort that runs through May 21. Residents, including scout groups and families, are invited to help clean the Nature Center grounds and along the reservoir. Those interested in volunteering should call 215-357-4005, ext. 16 or email dvsears@co.bucks.pa.us. International Coastal Cleanup Day 2012

The Churchville Nature Center works with the Ocean Conservancy participating in International Coastal Cleanup Day 2012.

Approximately 50 volunteers turned out at the Churchville Nature Center to pick up trash and litter from in and around the lake and Nature Center grounds according to Diane Sears, Coordinator of Volunteers at the Churchville Nature Center. Diane told Patch that volunteers removed approximately 400 lbs. of trash and litter for this year’s cleanup. Exhaust from Generator Sparks 'Relatively Minor' Fire

The Churchville Lane blaze began in the shed of a two-story single family home and spread to the attic.

A Northampton man was forced to find a temporary residence after a fire that started in his shed spread to the attic of his Churchville Lane home, making it uninhabitable.  Northampton Fire Marshal Frank Fenton said the blaze, which started at 7:04 p.m. Saturday was under control within 20 minutes. He said the homeowner was forced to vacate, at least for the time being, because the residence was without electric and the fire had damaged circuits.  Fenton said that PECO had disconnected the electric to three homes - including the site of the fire - an hour prior to the fire starting. The cause of the fire, Fenton said, was the "hot exhaust from the generator coming into contact with combustible material" in the man's shed, where the …
