Maureen M. Welch Elementary School is hosting a 5K run/walk on April 7 to raise money for a new playground at the school. The second annual Race to Play 5K will start at 9 a.m. at the Northampton Municipal Park, which is behind the school. The course runs through the township park and behind the school. All community members are invited to the event to support the school's effort for a new playground. "This will also benefit the Northampton Community as the playground is used by both students at Maureen M. Benjamin Wheeler is the son of a Council Rock graduate who died in last week's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary.
A 5K race is being organized in memory of Benjamin Wheeler, the son of a Council Rock graduate who died in last week's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. Fran Lobis-Wheeler is a member of Council Rock’s class of 1985. According to information provided by the Council Rock School District, current and past members of the CR North Cross Country Team are raising funds for the Wheeler family by sponsoring the 5K race in Benjamin’s memory. The race will be held Sunday, Dec. 30 at Council Rock High School North. Registration is $20 and can be done online by clicking here.
