Whiz Kid: Nick Beerbower

Name: Nicholas Beerbower

Age: 17

School: Council Rock South

Accomplishment: Nick recently celebrated his Eagle Court of Honor after he raised more than $1,600 to purchase materials for and building a new footbridge in the Mill Dam Picnic Area at Tyler State Park.

The high school junior from Holland is a member of Troop 147. 

"The bridge to me is a testament to Troop 147's dedication, skill, and perseverance," he said.

The scouts and troop leaders worked through difficult weather conditions to complete the project in time, he said.

"It was a great pleasure to lead the project and this fine group of individuals.  I was overwhelmed by both the generosity and the interest from the community," Nick said. "It is great to see that the bridge is getting a lot of foot traffic, and it delights me to know the the bridge will continue to serve the community for the foreseeable future."
