Accomplishment: Hirthler recently acquired his Eagle Scout status after completing a project for the Bucks County Association for the Bind and Visually Impaired. He built a 10-foot-by-12-foot shed for them to store thrift items and now they can accept more donations, which they sell for a profit.

The high school senior, along with Troop 147, raised the funds for the supplies themselves. He also received a good citizenship award from the Philadelphia Union League.

Hirthler plays on the football and lacrosse teams and is a member of the Latin Honor Society. He plans to attend Penn State or the University of Maryland.

"Becoming an Eagle Scout has always been a dream of mine, and it feels enlightening to have all my hard work pay off to receive this award," Hirthler said.
