Spa Fundraiser to Benefit Miracle League

With certain treatments, patrons can support both a local business and a local cause.

Spa Director Sid Shah said when he first began working at , he wanted to start a commuity investment program with other local businesses.

However, his amateur status and a high business overhead discouraged him from doing so and he decided to donate gift certificates to local causes instead.

Shah said he then read TOMS Founder Blake Mycoskie's book, "Start Something That Matters," in January and it changed his outlook. It inspired him to restart the community investment program.

"We were slow, and I decided that the spa is purpose-driven and not profit-driven," he said.

The Spa is currently offering certain deals on services, with part of the proceeds benefitting the Miracle League of Northampton. The special needs baseball league is set to open its own field on April 22 at the .

"It's a win-win-win situation and those are rare to come by," Shah said.

The services offered through this special include a 90-minute Stress Relief Massage for $99 with $10 going to the Miracle League, a European Facial for $50 with $5 being donated and a men-only manicure/pedicure for $30 with $3 being donated. They will last until $500 is raised.

Shah said the Spa will offer more specials bi-monthly with each benefitting a different charity. They're currently looking for groups to partner with.
