TD Bank Donates $8K to Council Rock Education Foundation

The Council Rock Education Foundation last week received an $8,700 donation from TD Bank through its Affinity Program.

The money, which was presented at last week's Council Rock School Board meeting, will be used to support innovative educational programs in Council Rock schools, CREF officials said. 

Bryan McWilliams, Vice-President and Manager of TD Bank’s Upper Silver Lake Rd. branch in Newtown, presented the check to the foundation. 

“TD Bank is passionate about investing back into our communities,” McWilliams said. McWilliams is a Council Rock parent and member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Under the Affinity Program, TD Bank makes a donation based on a percentage of the balances of all linked accounts, according to the CREF website. “Our Affinity Program is a great way for us to help the Education Foundation to support amazing teachers and innovative programs that ignite students’ passion for learning. Over the past five years, the Education Foundation has awarded 46 grants and more than $64,000 to teachers and classrooms throughout the district. “The focus of these grants are to allow teachers to be creative and do programs and projects that are not covered by the regular school budget,” said Suzanne Wray, CREF executive director. 

“These funds are available to all teachers, staff and community groups who want help to bring an innovative program or project into reality.”
