Student Recognized for Academic Acheivement

Congrats to South's Joy Wang for her national recognition.

Joy Wang, who attends , is one of two students who were chosen to receive the 2011 Siemens Award for Advanced Placement (AP) from the state of Pennsylvania, according to a press release.

The award is meant for the nation's best math and science students in the Advanced Placement program. Each student will receive a $2,000 college scholarship. Wang was among 101 students recognized across America.

“These students lead the nation in performance on Advanced Placement math and science courses and we are proud to recognize them for their academic excellence,” said Jeniffer Harper‐Taylor, President of the Siemens Foundation.

Wang has taken 13 AP classes, of which she said her favorite was physics. That's also the course she plans to take in college.
