Marching Band to Perform at Holiday Bowl

The Council Rock South Marching Band has the opportunity of a lifetime – to perform at the Holiday Bowl in San Diego, CA.

For the Council Rock South Marching Band, the weather outside will not be so frightful when they head to San Diego, CA, over winter break to perform at the Holiday Bowl.

The trip is scheduled from Dec. 26 to Jan. 2 and involves everything from a halftime performance at the Bridgepoint Holiday Bowl football game to a parade in Disneyland.

The band will also compete in the Holiday Bowl "Battle of the Bands" in Chula Vista and playing (and competing) in the Big Bay Balloon Parade.

For Drum Major Nicholas Trivelis, a senior, it's the trip of a lifetime.

"We're going to put on a great show in California and we're going to blow them away," he said.

The band has been working really hard, practicing almost a month after their regular season has ended outdoors in the cold and uncooperative weather. Some band members have had countdowns for the trip going since they first began planning months ago, he said.

He's also a huge Disney fan, so the band's New Years Eve parade down Main Street in Disneyland will be "a dream come true," he said.

The parade will be televised nationally on USA at 8 a.m. on Dec. 30 and the bowl game will be on ESPN on Dec. 28.
