First of Three School Security Forums is Monday

The first of three forums on school security will be held Monday at Hillcrest Elementary at 7 p.m.

The forums are being hosted by the Council Rock School District.

In addition to Monday's forum, there will be one Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Maureen M. Welch Elementary School and Wednesday, Jan. 30 at Newtown Middle School.

The forums are an opportunity for parents to discuss the issue of school security, according to information from the district.

The issue of school security has become a focus since last month's mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.

"The forums will allow for suggestions that may apply to both individual schools and/or district security practices. While input and suggestions will be welcome, a final plan will await both the conclusion of these three meetings and a public discussion with the Board of School Directors in February," an email from the district said.
