Council Rock South Rated in PA's Top 10

Newsweek recently rated Council Rock South as one of the best high schools in the state and country.

Earlier this week, Newsweek magazine recognized Council Rock High School South in its 2011 ranking of the top 500 public high schools in the country. Council Rock South was listed as 314 out of 500 schools.

For more than a decade, Newsweek has issued an annual ranking of public high schools using six components: graduation rate, college matriculation rate, AP tests taken per graduate, average SAT/ACT scores, average AP/IB/AICE scores, and AP courses offered.

In addition, Council Rock South was listed as ninth in the state, behind nearby schools such as Council Rock North, in fifth, and Central Bucks East and West schools, in Doylestown.

According to data published by Newsweek, Council Rock North’s student-to-teacher ratio is 22 to 1. The top-ranked school in the state, Harriton High School in Rosemont, has a student to teacher ratio of 11 to 1.  The data reflects a 99 percent graduation rate at Council Rock South, with 93 percent of its students continuing onto higher eduation. According to the ranking, Council Rock South's average SAT score is 1662.
