Council Rock South Celebrates 10 Years
Alumni, teachers, friends, family and current students all turned out for the annual Fall Festival and to celebrate Council Rock South's 10-year anniversary.
On Saturday, alumni, teachers, students and family from Council Rock South gathered on the school grounds for its annual Fall Festival. They were also celebrating an anniversary.
“This is the tenth anniversary of Council Rock South and we have alumni, former teachers, family, friends, and current students all here today,” said Rick Moore, Senior Class Advisor.

Keith Anthony, a former math teacher in the district, was there for two reasons.
“What I miss the most is all the friendships that were formed with the students and my colleagues,” he said. “And, the bratwurst, I can’t wait to get one of those. I’ve been coming to the Fall Festival for 39 years and I just have a lot of fond memories from this school.”

Courtney Devine, a 2012 graduate was back from Shippensburg University and recalled her days roaming the hallways.
“What I remember the most is when I got to play a man in the Phantom of the Opera, Piangi,” she said. “Mrs. Golden, my English teacher, was great, really helpful and honest in a nice way. I wanted to come back to see my second family here at Council Rock South.”
The Mosaic Tree Project, organized by the Art Department was just one of the many highlights of the day’s events.
“After school and when we had days off, I worked a total of about 29 hours probably more,” said Nick Hesson, Art Forum President.
The mosaic is to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the school. The idea is branching out to the future with solid roots. In each of the blocks it represents the achievements of the students.
“This is going right next to the cafeteria and will be there forever,” said Claire Chu, Art Forum Vice President. It’s been a lot of fun working on the project, and also really relaxing just sitting here and putting the tiles on it.”
The Mosaic Tree project was still in the process of being finished, but will be done by December 17.
“It’s cool to see everyone around having fun and having a good time,” said Senior Class President, Ryan Walter.
“It’s also fun to see all of the hard work that we put in working out. It turned out to be a very successful day and in ten years I hope everything here is still going strong. I hope the Student Council is still working hard, and hopefully one day I’ll come back and see all of their hard work.”
