BCCC Seeking High School Poet of the Year

The deadline to submit poems for the 26th annual high school poetry contest is March 8.

Bucks County Community College is seeking submissions to its annual High School Poet of the Year contest. Students have until Friday, March 8, to submit three original poems. 

This is the 26th year for the annual contest. The winner will receive $300, a proclamation from the Bucks County Commissioners and the opportunity to read at an April 14 reception on the college's Newtown campus. 

Also, the winning poems and one poem from each entrant will be published in an anthology,Writes of Passage Vol. 3, to be distributed at the April 14 reading.  Runners-up and finalists in the contest will also be invited to read one poem at the public event.

Entries are being accepted from any sophomore, junior or senior enrolled in a Bucks County high school or home-schooled who has not already won the contest. Entry is free.

To enter, submit three original poems with an entry form, which can be found at www.bucks.edu/poets. Entries must be postmarked by March 8 or hand delivered by 4 p.m. that day to:

The contest will be judged by current Bucks County Poet Laureate Lara Adams Gaydos and Corie Feiner, the 2011 laureate.
