Caroling for Laney

A little girl with leukemia wishes for carolers outside her house, she got her wish

Delaney (Laney) Brown of West Reading has leukemia and was told she has days or weeks to live. What started as an online campaign turned into something much larger than anyone could have expected.
Laney wanted to hear Christmas carolers outside her house. Social media took up the cause and the expectation was three to four thousand people showing up.

I got up there around 530pm, the caroling was supposed to start at 7pm. Over the next hour and a half more and more people arrived. Chestnut St where her and her family live was blocked off, by 630pm it was clear there were far more than four thousand people, and even at 7pm people were still arriving.
At the back of the crowd it was difficult to hear the announcements, and carols began spontaneously, mostly Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
The crowd was very good natured, even as they tried to get as close as they could to hear.
The caroling went on. You could hear it build as more and more people picked up the song, moving down the street.

Best estimates are there were at least ten thousand people.

My best wishes to the Brown family, and to Laney. Be strong, don't give up, and know there are many people out in the world who have you in their thoughts.
