PennDOT is currently in preliminary design to replace the Worthington Mill Road Bridge. The project is expected to be bid for construction in 2016, PennDOT said.

The Worthington Mill Road Bridge was built in 1954. It is 245 feet long and 18 feet wide. The structure carries 2,497 vehicles a day and is posted with a 15-ton weight limit, PennDOT said.

The rehabilitation of the Worthington Mill Road Bridge is part of PennDOT’s $2 million project to repair and improve bridges in the Philadelphia region.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County is the general contractor on the project that is financed with 100 percent state funds, according to PennDOT.
