Planning Commission to Meet Tonight

The Commission will discuss the Fair Housing Zoning Ordinance Amendment and more.

The Planning Commission will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Northampton Township Complex.

At Tuesday's meeting, the commission will discuss several items including the Fair Housing Zoning Ordinance Amendment.

At the last Board of Supervisors meeting on June 27, a motion to amend the definition and standards of housing laws, group homes and residential facilities in the Fair Housing Zoning Ordinance passed 5-0. Updating the definitions is just a "book-keeping matter" Supervisor Chairman Rothermal said at the meeting.

Updating the ordinance will ensure compliance with federal fair housing laws, according to a memo from the Planning Commission from Dec. 7, 2011.

If the Planning Commission is fine with the amended ordinance, there will be a public hearing on Aug. 22, at the supervisors meeting. View the proposed amendment in the PDF section of this article page, or download it here.
