Northampton Summer Concert Series

The Parks and Recreation Department has a full lineup of free concerts and events at the Municipal Park this summer.

The Northampton Summer Concert Series will start tomorrow night with several jazz ensembles from both Council Rock high schools and two middle schools.

The show starts at 6:30 at the Civic Center Amphitheater and will be held in the gym if the weather is bad.

This popular event has kicked off the Summer Concert Series for about 20 years, said Betty Satterley, Special Events Coordinator for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Following the kick-off event is "Snoopy" the musical, playing this Sunday. Like most of the events, the local theater group's rendition of the popular Charles Schultz characters is at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Park.

"I think 'Snoopy' the musical's going to be a lot of fun, something different and kid-friendly family theater," Satterley said.

Admission to all Summer Concert Series events is free.

Other notable concerts and performances throughout the summer include The Fabulous Greaseband, which doubles as a Northampton Miracle League fundraiser; The Daisy Jug Band and The Mango Men.

Satterley said The Mango Men is always a popular concert in the series.

"We do a beach party and it's a lot of fun," she said.
