Memorial Day in Northampton

Consider attending the flag ceremony to pay respect for those serving in the military.

Though Memorial Day is notoriously known for pools opening and family barbecues, Northampton Township has something else planned that drives to the heart of the holiday.

The Board of Supervisors invites the township to a ceremony, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Robert H. Dembowski, Jr. Veterans Memorial Park (at the corner of Second Street Pike and Almshouse Road).

First there will be a flag lower/raising ceremony, including the American flag and six others representing the branches of the military.

Also the ceremoney will feature a memorial service and flag ceremony for a recently returned soldier, Navy Corpsman Alexander Kozak.

All members of the public are invited to attend this annual event.

Correcion or clarification to the posted article. The main ceremony at Dembowski Park begins at 9:00am, not 8:00am and is the main ceremony in which the welcome home for Corpsman Kozak will be acknowleged. The 8:00am flag raising/lowering will be in front of the Township building and will only last approximately 5 minutes.
