Ex-Pa. Gov. Hospitalized Following Stroke

Dick Thornburgh was governor of Pennsylvania during the Three Mile Island crisis.

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Dick Thornburgh has been hospitalized in Pittsburgh following a stroke, his wife says.

Thornburgh, 81, was the 41st governor of Pennsylvania, serving from 1979 to 1987, notably during the Three Mile Island crisis.

He also was the U.S. Attorney General from 1988 to 1991, and Under-Secretary General of the United Nations from 1992-1993.

Thorniburgh's wife, Ginny, told The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the stroke, which occurred Saturday, was mild, and that her husband is now resting comfortably at UPMC Presbyterian.
