Police Will Continue Efforts on 232

The Crash Reduction Campaign, which began in June, will continue until NTPD sees results across the township.

The results are in from the Crash Reduction Campaign's first month, and police saw a 35.3 percent reduction in accidents at the targeted intersection between May and June.

The Northampton Township Police Department began its in Richboro in June after qualifying it as the most accident-prone spot in the township.

Compared to the past two years' data, township-wide crashes only increased 6.3 percent from May to June. The average for 2009 and 2010 was 28 percent, according to a police statement.

"The emphasis on crash reduction prevented the expected increase in crashes during the month of June," the statement said.

Officer Joseph Rosowski, a member of the , is in charge of the initiative. His data reports that even though the number of crashes were reduced, thanks to 41 traffic monitoring posts and 27 traffic stops, the intersection is still the no. 1 location for crashes.

However, the department isn't stopping there. Police plan to continue the efforts until crashes are reduced at the township level.

The second most frequent location for crashes is Buck Road from Elaine Drive to Rocksville Road, the statement said.
