Police: Son Tries to Gouge out his Father’s Eyes

A 61-year-old Northampton man was attacked by his son at 3:32 a.m. Sunday, according to the report.

Charles Erickson III, told police he was sleeping at his home on Strawberry Lane when his son, Charles Erickson VI, 31, woke him. The senior Erickson said he went into the bathroom his son assaulted him beating him about the face and trying to gouge out his eyes.

When officers arrived at his home, Erickson was bleeding and “with severe facial injuries.” He told the officers at a nearby gas station his “son was trying to kill him.”

The bathroom floor was covered in blood and water, and water was gushing from a broken toilet, phillyburbs.com reported.

Officers repeatedly ordered the younger Erickson to lie face down on the floor, but he refused. The police tried to subdue him with pepper spray, but Erickson fought them when they tried to put cuffs on him.

One of the officers sustained a broken hand during the melee. 

The officer, suspect and the victim were transported to the Saint Mary Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. 

Erickson, of Warminster, was arraigned Tuesday and was charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Resisting Arrest and related offenses.
