Police Recover 32 Bottles of Alcohol from a Minor at Traffic Stop

Northampton Police completed a traffic stop at Middle Holland and West Village Roads.

Northampton Police recovered 32 bottles of alcohol from a 17-year-old on Thursday, June 14, during a traffic stop, a spokesperson from the police department told Patch.

The 17-year-old male from Holland, who is a recent graduate of Council Rock High School South, was stopped for speeding at Middle Holland Road and West Village Road in the Holland section of the township. An officer was on a pre-assigned, selective enforcement detail to monitor vehicle speeding complaints, according to a press release from the police department.

After the boy's vehicle was stopped, the officer saw, in plain view, 32 bottles of alcohol including various brands of vodka, rum and tequila. Through information gathered at the scene, the police officer determined that the alcohol was meant for consumption during Senior Week in Ocean City, N.J.

"This officer’s actions are commendable and the confiscation of the contraband may well have prevented a needless calamity during Senior Week," Chief of Police Barry Pilla said in the release.

The investigation continues and charges are pending.

Looks like someone was planning to have a fun Senior Week.

Good thing alcohol is not the gateway drug, otherwise this student & his friends would have no choice, now, but to start huffing household chemicals, smoking crack, or just telling everyone to raid their parents' liquor cabinets. Regarding "Huffing", http://www.justice.gov/ndic/pubs07/708/index.htm

No kidding eh. Nothing spells brillance like leaving contraband in plain sight while breaking other laws. Why wouldn't you hide it and why wouldn't you take due caution regardless? Ah yes, I know....the older-than-dirt belief among the young that they're too smart to get caught or the cops are too stupid to catch them.

Typical Council Rock kids have the money and think they can do what ever. And how was he served to purchase this stuff? Who gave it to a 17 yr. old?

The interesting twist with this is what type of penalties will this kid face? 32 bottles of alcohol show that he definitely had someone of age assist him with buying it. He probably has to pay a short fine but he'll still be drinking it up in OC this summer.

Excuse me, I'm a Council Rock student and I can assure you that most of the kids I know aren't like this. While yes, there are some, I wouldn't say that this is typical. I completely agree that this is wrong, but stereotyping all of us into this category isn't fair either. It could have been anyone from any school district.

I'm certainly not condoning this kids behavior, but I know a lot of Council Rock Kids that would not do this, my sons included. Your characterization is not fair.

Typical stereotyping from a Southampton resident. Doesn't seem fair does it? Stereotyping somebody by where they live is neither fair nor accurate most times. Next time maybe you will think before you post.

Damn lucky he's under 18

Kudos to the police officer, that may have saved someone's life. Not just from the speeding.

NO the above posters are correct, this IS typical Council Rock behavior. The teens live to party, smoke, drink and listen to rap music. Most parents either aren't home or have allowed their teen out and they really do not know their true whereabouts. I have raised one that graduated and have two remaining and they have virtually less than a handful of friends. Go to facebook google Council Rock and look at some of the pages. It is a shame most parents are in denial about their teenagers.
