Police Department to Inform Students on New Laws

The Northampton Township Police Department has scheduled an information detail at the high school on Feb. 21.

Several new teen driving laws took effect in December of last year, and the Northampton Township Police Department is doing all it can to make sure the youth of the community know about them.

Officers will be handing out informational fliers at Council Rock South on Tuesday afterschool that detail what's new about Act 81.

Some of the new enforcements include changes to junior driver training, junior driver passenger requirements and seat belt requirements. For example, now all drivers under the age of 18 can only transport one other underage person in the first six months they have their licenses, according to a PennDOT release.
