Traffic Crash – DUI Related
Stoneyford Road by East Village Road

Shortly before 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two vehicle traffic crash on Stoneyford Road by East Village Road, where one of the vehicles reportedly fled the scene. The vehicle was described as a 1990s or early 2000s model, white Ford pick-up driven by a white male. The complainant reported the pick-up struck the front of his car as he was traveling east on Stoneyford Road.  Impact stopped the complainant’s vehicle as the pick up drove onto the hood of the car. The pick up had reportedly backed off of the hood and then fled the scene. The initial responding officer observed a vehicle matching the description pull out of Thoroughbred Drive and onto Buck Road and was able to obtain a registration plate number. The unit, however, continued into the crash scene to ascertain the extent of injuries to the occupants of the vehicle that had been struck. A secondary unit did locate and stop the pick up seen by the initial officer and identified the driver as Eric Brooks, 20, of Holland.

Brooks denied having been involved in a crash, thouhg his vehicle had damage consistent with the circumstances of the crash. Officer’s observations of Brooks, and his inability to successfully complete a series of field dexterity tests, led to him being taken into custody on suspicion of having been driving while under the influence. He was transported to the Saint Mary Medical Center where samples of his blood were obtained for analysis.  He was then taken to Northampton Township Police Department Headquarters for processing before being released to a family member.

Charges relating to DUI and Hit & Run are pending the conclusion of the crash investigation and lab reports. The driver of the struck vehicle reported a minor injury and will seek private medical treatment.
