Police Blotter: DUI, Public Drunkenness Among NTPD Reports

Northampton Township Police Department released recent blotter information for June 28 through July 6.

DUI
2nd Street Pike by Sackettsford Road

On Thursday, July 5 while on patrol and traveling northbound on 2nd Street Pike approaching Sackettsford Road around 2:30 a.m., an officer saw a vehicle approaching him traveling south in the northbound lane of travel. The officer was able to stop the vehicle on 2nd Street Pike by Sackettsford Road. The vehicle was being driven by Philip Johnson, 20, of Wycombe.

Johnson was unable to successfully complete a series of field dexterity tests and was taken into custody on suspicion of having been driving while under the influence. He was transported to the Saint Mary Medical Center where samples of his blood and urine were obtained for analysis.

Charges relating to DUI are pending the lab report.

3500 block of Coventry Place

On July 5, the property owners of a home on the 3500 block of Coventry Place reported the theft of a washer and dryer from the home, which is a rental property, possibly by the tenants who vacated the property in June. The appliances had an estimated value of $1,200.

1100 block of Temperance Lane

On Wednesday, July 4 a victim reported the theft of her cell phone, a digital camera and $300 in cash from her purse that had been left on the rear deck of the home she was visiting. The stolen items had a combined estimated value of $700.

345 Newtown Richboro Road – Northampton Township Civic Center

On Tuesday, July 3, a representative of the Northampton Township Parks and Recreation Department reported that sometime between 5:15 p.m. on June 18 and 8:30 a.m. on June 21, laptop computer was stolen from the reception area of the facility. The computer had an estimated value of $600.

100 block of Monroe Court

On Monday, July 2, a vehicle owner reported that sometime between 8 p.m. on July 1 and 8 a.m. on July 2 someone had entered her unlocked vehicle that was parked in front of the residence on the 100 block of Monroe Court. $5 and the vehicle's registration card were found to have been stolen from the vehicle.

Unit block of Creek Road

On Sunday, July 1, a homeowner reported that approximately two weeks prior that two golf bags, with their clubs, along with a backpack style leaf blower were missing from the garage of his Creek Road home. The garage may have been left open or unlocked. The total value of the stolen items was estimated to be $2,850.

Unit block of Keenan Lane

On July 1, a complainant reported the rear window on a car in the driveway of her Keenan Lane home had been shattered by a known subject. An officer verified the damage then made contact with the suspect; Jeffrey Winick, 33, of Wyncote, Pa. Winick was informed that charges relating to Criminal Mischief would be filed against him once a value for the damage is ascertained by the victim.

Unit block of Woodstream Drive

The victim reported on June 30 that sometime after 12 a.m. on June 27, an unknown person or persons had entered two of the family’s vehicles that were parked in the homes driveway and had been left unsecured. Two DVD players along with charger cords were taken from the vehicles. The combined value of the stolen items was estimated to be $1,295.

Public Drunkenness
Unit block of Burdsal Avenue

At 11:47 p.m. on June 29, officers received a report of an intoxicated person throwing up by the Sunoco Station at Route 232 and Newtown–Richboro Road. When officers arrived the subject could not be located. A short while later a report was received of a subject staggering on Burdsal Avenue. Officers located the subject and identified him as Stephen Derenzis, 28, of Horsham. Derenzis, who appeared to be highly intoxicated, claimed to be walking home from a wedding reception in Ivyland. He was taken into custody, transported to Northampton Township Police Department Headquarters and cited for Public Drunkenness. Arrangements were made to get Derenzis back to his home.

700 block of Heritage Drive

On Thursday, June 28 a complainant reported having seen two male subjects dressed in black hoodies standing next to the condo building on Sunbury Court around 4 a.m. The subjects were throwing what the caller believed to be landscaping rocks at cars parked on Heritage Drive. When the complainant yelled at the subjects they ran towards Stoneyford Road. Officers found that two vehicles on Heritage had damage to their windshields after they were struck by rocks. The owners of the vehicles were advised and neither knew the value of the damage.

1100 block of Potters Place

On June 28, a victim reported that sometime between 9 p.m. on June 27 and 6:30 a.m. on June 28 that someone had spray painted her vehicle with pink paint. The value of the damage was not known at the time of the report.

100 block of Valley Drive

On June 28 a complainant, a landscaper, reported having parked his truck and trailer in the 100 block of Valley Drive as he was cutting a lawn in the area. On his return to the vehicle he found that someone had stolen two weed whackers and two leaf blowers from the racks of the trailer. The total value of the stolen items was estimated to be $1874.

Unit block of Stoneyford Road

The victim reported that around 6 p.m. on June 28 two males walked up the driveway of her home on Stoneyford Road, entered her vehicle and stole between $250 and $300 that was in the center console.

100 block of Woodstream Drive

The complainant reported that sometime between 10:30 p.m. on June 27 and 3 p.m. on June 28, unknown actors had entered two vehicles that were parked in the driveway of a home on the 100 block of Woodstream Drive, and stole two GPS units, a radar detector and an EZ Pass. The combined value of the items was estimated to be $970.

Criminal Mischief
Building 19 Bennett Place

On Wednesday, June 27 around 10 p.m. officers received a report of a group of juveniles being loud and using profanity in the unit block of Van Horn Place. On arrival they learned the group had left the area when they were chased by an adult. While checking the area for the group the officer was approached by a resident on Bennett Place who reported the juveniles had broken a light on his property. The light was valued at $2.
