NTPD Reports Increase in Crashes in July

The Northampton Township Police Department saw a "slight increase" in crashes during July.

In July, police saw a "slight increase" in car crashes, according to a recent report.

Forty-six crashes took place in July, data shows. None of those crashes resulted in a fatality, but six people were injured as a result of those accidents.

Despite the increase, however, the total crashes year to date is 14 less than in 2011, Northampton Township Police said.

According to traffic crash data for the time period between January and July 2012, 369 total crashes occurred in the township, with a monthly average of about 53 crashes. During the same period of time, 57 injuries happened as a result of those accidents. The monthly average is roughly 8 injuries.

Police will continue their enforcement efforts in the 2nd Street Pike and Buck Road corridors, from the current enforcement strategy.
