Man Found Asleep Behind the Wheel; DUI Charges Pending

A driver asleep in his running vehicle may be charged with a DUI after results from lab reports are received, according to a recent police blotter.

A Holland man who was asleep in his running vehicle may be charged with a DUI after results from lab reports are received, Northampton Township Police said.

Just after 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18 an officer on patrol discovered an occupied vehicle running with its operator asleep behind the wheel in the 100 block of Mulberry Drive by South Timber Road, according to a recent police blotter.

The officer woke the driver, who was a 52-year-old man from Holland, reports said. Observations of the driver led an officer to ask him to perform a series of field dexterity tests. He was unable to successfully complete the tests.

The man was then taken into custody on suspicion of having been operating his vehicle while under the influence. He was taken to Saint Mary Medical Center where samples of his blood were taken for analysis.

He was then taken to Northampton Township Police Department Headquarters and processed before being released. Charges relating to DUI are pending the lab report results.

MORE BS. Perhaps the man was tired. We work in a demanding world and many are sleep deprived. Regardless, let this be a lesson to all that this POLICE STATE in which we live is out of control. If you're too tired to drive, pull to a safe location, TAKE THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION and in your pocket & get into the PASSAGER SIDE of the car. Also, NEVER submit to field sobriety tests. They are set up for you to lose.

What happened to pull over if you can't drive. Oh and his car was on. Yeh it was also 30 something degrees. NH get a grip. Next time, wait to see if he pulls away. Also maybe the guy was right in front of his own house, maybe, possibly. DUI - DRIVING under the influence is not PUI PARKING under the influence or IUI IDLING under the influence. Driving usually means actively moving a vehicle, doesn't it. Oh maybe I skipped that driver ed class.
