Holland Man Refuses Blood Test After DUI Suspicion

According to a recent police blotter, a man was taken to the hospital on suspicion of a DUI and refused to consent to a blood test.

A Holland man may lose his driver's license after refusing to consent to a blood test, according to a recent blotter from Northampton Township Police.

While on patrol, a police officer observed a vehicle traveling north on West Village Road well in excess of the posted 25 mph speed limit, on Thursday, Sept. 20. The officer pulled the driver over at West Village Road and Blaker's Way.

The officer's observations of the 45-year-old man from Holland, along with his inability to successfully complete a series of field dexterity tests, led to his being taken into custody on suspicion on having been driving while under the influence.

The man was taken to Saint Mary Medical Center where he refused to consent to having his blood drawn for samples. He was informed of the Pennsylvania Implied Consent Law

Refusal to submit to a blood test after a DUI arrest can be punished by a one-year driver's license suspension and up to three days in jail, according to a Bucks County defense team.

The driver was then brought to the Northampton Township Police Department headquarters where he was processed before being released to a family member. Charges will be filed for DUI and PennDOT will be notified of the refusal to submit to chemical testing in order to impose administrative sanctions on the driver's operating privileges.
