Friends Use Internet to Continue Search for Shipley

Brian Shipley, who went missing on Feb. 13, has still not been located and his friends are hoping social media might be able to help bring him home.

After a local Holland man went missing two days ago, his friends and family have taken to the internet to try and help locate him.

Brian Shipley was last seen around the George School and Neshaminy Creek in Langhorne on the evening of Feb. 13.

He is a light-skinned black man at 5-foot-11-inches tall and approximately 175 lbs. He has brown eyes, short black hair and a lightly trimmed beard.

The Twitter hashtag #findshipley was picked up almost immediately and has been used by his friends and followers to spread the word about his disappearance.

The Twitter user @Shshan3 was the first to use it, and later tweeted, "our best friend has gone missing and needs help. help bring him home."

Shipley's girlfriend, Natalie Badalof, also set up a website to post new information and pictures of him. The site has picked up more than 1,000 hits since it was launched.

Though he lived with his foster family, the Shipleys, until October of 2011, Brian moved in with the Mayo family and has resided there since, Badalof said.

He recently became interested in the electronic music scene and was following a tour in New England last week. He was home over the weekend and seemed fine until Monday he began packing up his things. He disappeared without any keys, cell phone, wallet or identification. He also left a note behind, but Badalof said she preferred not to disclose its contents.

A Facebook group was also created and has more than 260 members. His friends and loved ones have posted on it and share a discussion about what to do to find him.

Paige Mayo said he has been dealing with depression for a while, and the police report confirmed that he did not take his prescription medication that morning, which might have made him disoriented.

"He gave no indication," Mayo said. "He cut ties with everyone before he left and everyone is looking for him. He is very involved with music, and goes to concerts a lot. He is an amazing person who doesn't know how to accept love."

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Northampton Township Police Department at (215) 322-6111 and ask for Detective John Gross.
