DUI Charges to be Filed for Sunday Morning Accident

According to police, the one-car accident occurred on Second Street Pike early Sunday morning.

Northampton Township Police say the driver involved in a one-car accident that occurred shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday was under the influence.

According to police, the accident occurred on Second Street Pike at Sackettsford Road after a car driving north went off the road and hit a traffic sign. 

The driver, a 30-year-old Ivyland man, told police he lost control of the car when he reached for his cell phone that was on the floor. Police said the man appeared intoxicated and was unable to successfully perform a series of field tests.

The man was taken into custody on suspicion of having been driving while under the influence. He was transported to the Saint Mary Medical Center where samples of his blood were obtained for analysis. He was then brought to NTPD-HQ and processed before being released to family members.  DUI charges are pending the lab report.
