Dryer Fire Damages Apartment in July Fourth Blaze

A fire damaged a detached garage that housed a second floor apartment Monday afternoon on Primrose Drive in the township.

The one alarm fire that began behind a clothes dryer left a second floor apartment with heavy damage Monday afternoon, officials confirm.

Heavy smoke along with flames were reported in the blaze that occured in the 10 block of Primrose Drive, said Battalion Chief Thomas Richmond of the Northampton Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Richmond said the flames extended from the dryer and into the walls of the building causing damage to the first floor garage and a third floor loft.

Northampton's Engine 3 was first on the scene and the department had the fire under control within roughly 30 minutes, added Richmond.

As water dripped from the second floor of the building Richmond said the building suffered heavy damage and was inhabbitable.

No injuries were reported in the fire which was called into 9-1-1 at around 4:30 p.m. after a neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from the detached garade, Richmond said at the scene.
