Drunk Man Drives to Police Station; DUI Charges Pending

DUI charges are pending for an intoxicated man who drove to the police department to complain about being fired from his job.

Charges for DUI are pending after a man, who showed signs of intoxication, drove to the Northampton Township Police Department to complain about being fired from his job, according to police reports.

Just before 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, a man who walked into the Northampton Township Police Head Quarters displayed signs of intoxication and was in an agitated state over having been terminated by his employer, a police blotter said.

Officers found that the 53-year-old Newtown man had driven to the station.

He was unable to successfully complete a series of field dexterity tests and was taken into custody on suspicion of having been driving while under the influence. He was transported to the Saint Mary Medical Center in an effort to obtain blood samples for analysis, but he refused to have his blood drawn.

The man was taken back to the Northampton Township Police Department and processed before being transported home. Charges relating to DUI will be filed.

PennDOT will also be notified of his refusal to submit to the blood test, which will lead to a one year suspension of his operating privileges.

Maybe the president should start a commission to ban alcohol? Considering alcohol directly resulted in over 75,000 deaths last year. Gun related deaths were about 8,000. That's over 6000 deaths per month because of alcohol and about 700 from guns...but we need to ban guns, right?
