Traffic Accidents Decrease in Northampton

Data from the township police department shows a reduction in traffic crashes since 2011.

In the past six months, the number of traffic accidents throughout Northampton Township has decreased, according to data from the police department.

There have been 27 fewer crashes—an 8 percent decrease—township-wide from 2011 through June 2012, a chart from the Northampton Township Police Department shows.

Chief Barry Pilla said that these results correspond to the department's method of developing and implementing plans and initiatives to address traffic-related accidents. Pilla credited the department's ability to deploy uniformed officers—specifically the Quality of Life / Traffic Safety Team—as another reason why the number of crashes have reduced.
